42 Islamic Beliefs about Allah

Islam Requires a person to have firm faith in many core principles such as Oneness of Allah, His Messengers and Prophets, Day of Judgement, His Books, His Angels, Destiny etc. In this article we are presenting the most important Islamic beliefs about Allah which a person must believe by heart in order to be called a Muslim.  

Belief 1: Allah is since ever and will remain forever.

Belief 2: He is the Living, the Hearing, the Seeing.

Belief 3: There is nothings like Him and He is unique.

Belief 4: Nothing is secret from His knowledge. He sees everything. He listens to everything. He speaks whatever He pleases.

Belief 5: He is worthy of worship. He has no partner.

Belief 6: The entire universe did not exist before. Then it came into existence by the creation of Allah.

Belief 7: Allah gives life and takes life.

Belief 8: Allah neither sleeps nor dozes. He does not get tired of looking after the universe.

Belief 9: Allah is One. He does not need anyone. He did not give birth to anyone nor was born from anyone. There is no rival to Him.

Belief 10: Allah is absolutely independent. Nobody can order Him for anything or question Him about any of his actions.

Belief 11: Whatever good or bad happens in the universe Allah knows them all before hand and creates them according to His knowledge. This is fate or destiny. There are secrets in creating bad things which everyone does not know.

Belief 12: Allah is not obliged to do anything. Whatever favour He does is by His mercy and kindness.

Belief 13: Allah’s power is such that when He intends to do a thing, He simply says “Be”, and it happens.

Belief 14: Allah does not dwell in any specific place or direction.

Belief 15: Whatever He wills comes to pass, for nothing can ever happen against His will.

Belief 16: Allah is kind to His creatures. He is king (of kings).He is free from all defects.

Belief 17: It is He Who cures the sick, provides sustenance to creatures, and removes hardship from the suffering.

Belief 18: Allah is Mighty. He is the giver of sustenance, gives more to some, less to some. He elevates some, He degrades some. Give respects to some, Humiliates some whom He pleases.

Belief 19: He is just. He is tolerant. He appreciates service. He accepts our prayers.

Belief 20: We know Him by His qualities and virtues but nobody can know His self.

Belief 21: Allah accepts repentance of sinners. He punishes those worthy of punishment.

Belief 22: Allah gives guidance.

Belief 23: Allah has all virtues of excellence.

Belief 24: None except Allah is the true Lord.

Belief 25: He is free from the qualities of His creatures and wherever in Quran or Hadith such things are mentioned we leave its meaning to Allah. He knows it’s true nature and we believe as such or give it a meaning suitable to it with which we can understand.

Belief 26: Allah created us for the first time. He will create us again on the Day of Judgment.

Belief 27: Allah has given His servants choice to do good or evil which they do by their choice. He is pleased by good deeds. He is displeased by bad deeds. But His servants cannot create any work.

Belief 28: Allah has not ordered His servants anything what they cannot do.

Belief 29: To take anything except Allah as God, to bow or prostrate in front of it in devotion, and to supplicate to it for favours which are only in Allah’s power (for example, granting a baby, bringing luck, reaching a devotee for help anywhere, hearing everything from any distance, and knowing the secrets of heart) is called Shirk (polytheism) in Islamic terminology.

Belief 30: Shirk is the most serious sin which is not forgiven unless the person committing it offers sincere repentance.

Belief 31: Wisdom is His attribute and all His actions reflect wisdom, ultimately leading to good.

Belief 32: Allah has created the Angels, who are high in rank and close to Him in relationship.

Belief 33: The Devils (Shayateen) are also His creatures who arc a source of evil for mankind.

Belief 34: Allah has also created the Jinns.

Belief 35: The Quran is a book revealed by Allah. Its words as well as their intended meaning are all from Allah. It is complete and safe from interpolation and change. A person who believes that an addition or deletion had taken place in it is not a Muslim.

Belief 36: It is true that Allah will bring all dead to life again on an appointed day.

Belief 37: Accountability, reward, and punishment on the Day of Judgement are true.

Belief 38: The Heaven and the Hell exist in reality. 

Belief 39: It is true that Allah sent prophets to mankind in the world.

Belief 40: It is also true that Allah sent His commandments to inform and educate His bondsmen through the prophets.

Belief 41: Muhammad is the last of Allah’s prophets. No new prophet will be born after him.

Belief 42: No other religion except Islam is acceptable to Allah and can ensure salvation in the hereafter.
