19 Beliefs about Islamic Holy Book Quran

Belief 1: Allah has revealed many small and bigger books through the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) to different Prophets so that they may guide their people and nation.

Belief 2: Four famous Revealed Books are:

  • Tauraat (Torah) to Prophet Moosa (Moses)
  • (Zaboor) Psalms (Zaboor) to Prophet Dawood (David)
  • Injil (Gospels) to Prophet Isa (Jesus), and
  • Quran to Prophet Mohammad (pbuh)

Belief 3: Quran is the last holy book. No book will come from Heaven after it.

Belief 4: All other previous books were changed and mutilated by earlier people but Allah has promised to protect Quran. No one can change a word of it.

Belief 5: Quranic orders will prevail till the Last day of this world (Qiyamat).

Belief 6: All the teachings contained in the former Scriptures that were meant to be of lasting value and importance are included in the Quran.

Belief 7: Prophet Muhammad, the last of God’s messengers, received the revelation of the Quran through a special messenger sent by God for this purpose: the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel), who recited to him God’s words exactly.

Belief 8: The revelation of the Quran started in the month of Ramadan when Prophet Muhammad had passed the fortieth year of his life, during his seclusion in the cave of Hira on a mountain near Makkah.

Belief 9: The basic message of all Prophets from God, and hence of all scriptures they brought, is one and the same message from God to man:

We did raise a messenger among every people, with the message: “Worship Allah and stay away from the Rebel (the Satan).” Then, there were some among them whom Allah guided, and there were others against whom deviation (from the right path) was established. So, travel on earth and see how was the fate of those who rejected (the prophets). ​(Al-Quran 16:36).

Belief 10: The Quran is for all times to come and for all situations.

Belief 11: The revelation of Quran corresponds to man’s position on earth and in history. Quran was revealed at a time when the man has reached, in his development, the stage when universal principles need to be applied to safeguard his purposeful existence.

Belief 12: The Quran was revealed in stages over a period of 23 years, and not as a complete book in one single act of revelation.

Belief 13: Islam also states that starting from the first human on the earth (Adam), man has received communication from God, to guide him towards the correct path and to lead him to salvation in hereafter.

Belief 14: The pre-Quranic scriptures, besides carrying the same basic message from Allah, also brought specific instructions addressed directly to particular communities of people at given points of time in history and in particular circumstances, such as the Jewish or Christian communities.

Belief 15: It is irreligious to not to accept the obvious meaning of Quran and find a twisted meaning to fulfill ulteriour motives.

Belief 16: Quranic Revelation used to be written down even in the very early days of the Prophethood of Muhammad.

Belief 17: The Prophet himself instructed his scribes about the arrangement of different revealed verses and chapters and thus determined the overall order and arrangement of Quran. 
This order and arrangement was well known to the Muslims and strictly observed by them.

Belief 18: The Angel Gabriel went through all the revelation with Muhammad each year in Ramadan, and went through it twice in the year the Prophet died.

Belief 19:The Quran was sent down upon the Prophet Muhammad with its precise meaning and precise wording and was transmitted to us by numerous persons from generation to generation both verbally and in writing.
