Different locations in the world claim the existence of Ayodhya based on the faiths of their local population but Hindus claim that Ayodhya which is the birthplace of their deity Ram the son of Dashrath is in India.
It is not common knowledge that there are multiple locations in India and outside India having the name Ayodhya. Consider the following locations in India:
Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, India
1. An Ayodhya is situated near Faizabad; Its STD code is 05278 and PIN code is 224123. Here was the famous Babri Mosque which was demolished by Hindu extremists on 6 December 1992 .
2. UP also has the distinction of a second Ayodhya also. It is in Sirsa Tehsil, Allahabad. Its STD code 05334; and PIN code is 212305

There are multiple locations with the name Ayodhya even outside India, consider the following;

6. Near Harappa
Ayodhya in Thailand
7. In Thailand, located in the valley of the Chao Phraya River, Ayutthaya (also spelled as “Ayudhya”) city is the capital of Ayutthaya province.
It can be seen that the claim that birthplace of Lord Ram is exactly at Ayodhya in India is untenable.
